Accountant

1.0 Background

Sigona Golf Club is a premier Golf Club renowned for offering exceptional Golfing, Hospitality, Accommodation and recreational experiences to its members and guests. The Club is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, detail-oriented and results driven professional to fill the position of an Accountant.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Club’s financial operations through accurate financial reporting, preparation of management accounts, revenue control, reconciliations, statutory compliance, budgeting support and maintenance of strong internal controls across the Club’s operations.

2.0 Key Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position shall include, but not be limited to:-

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting financial reports.
  • Assisting in preparation of financial schedules and reports for Management, Finance Committee and Board meetings.
  • Monitoring departmental expenditure and conducting budget variance analysis.
  • Verifying and reconciling daily revenue collections from various revenue centres including Food & Beverage outlets, Golf operations, Accommodation suites, Events and functions and other club facilities
  • Reconciling POS systems and member account postings with accounting records.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and ensuring timely resolution of variances.
  • Processing journal entries and maintaining accurate accounting records.
  • Supporting accounts payable processes including supplier reconciliations and payment verification.
  • Assisting in statutory compliance including PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, VAT and withholding tax submissions.
  • Supporting internal and external audit processes.
  • Participating in stock count exercises and inventory reconciliations.
  • Ensuring compliance with established financial controls, procedures and Club policies.
  • Supporting implementation and improvement of financial and operational systems.
  • Responding to member billing queries professionally and promptly.

3.0 Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field from a recognized institution
  • CPA(K) or ACCA qualification.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
  • Experience in Hospitality, Hotel, Golf Club or Service industry environment will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of management accounts, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with accounting software and POS systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
